History shows that the tempo of new developments in the United States is always quickened and sharpened in times of economic stress. History is again repeating itself in the concrete field as well as other fields where man's ingenuity finds opportunity for full play. It is fitting to develop this subject here in Detroit, the capitol of the greatest transportation factory the world has ever seen but the superlatives required to describe the automobile industry need not be repeated here.
