New Evaluation of Neutron Fluence Measurements by Diamond Detectors

Source

A report presented at the Twelfth International Symposium on Reactor Dosimetry considered the possibility of determining the fluence of neutrons with energy above 0.5 MeV in VVER-1000 surveillance specimens’ materials by measurement of the crystal lattice extension of the diamond detectors located in these samples. The new experimental information accumulated to date made it possible to renovate the calibration of diamond detectors and to continue the analysis of their use for measuring the fluence. The comparison was continued with the traditional method of determining the fluence by measurement of manganese-54 (54Mn) activity accumulated in the surveillance specimens’ materials.
