New Practice for Incubation and Subsequent Evaluation of Geosynthetics to Chlorine Solution at Elevated Temperature Folded Geomembranes

1. Scope

This practice covers a procedure for the accelerated aging of geosynthetics. It is ideally suited for 30 mil geomembranes.

Keywords

Accelerated Aging; Geomembrane; Geosynthetic; Chlorine

Rationale

The procedure allows for the evaluation of different geomembranes to various chemicals. However, the suggested experimental fluid is 10ppm chlorine dioxide (ClO2) medium at 50°C. That said, the geomembranes and their immersion liquids are project-specific and to be agreed upon by the parties involved.

The title and scope are in draft form and are under development within this ASTM Committee.
