    Self-Focusing in Glass

    Filamentary damage tracks characteristic of self focusing or beam trapping have been observed in laser glass subjected to unfocused intense Q-spoiled laser beams. Two possible mechanisms for the generation of trapped filaments of intense radiation are examined and conditions appropriate for their generation are deliniated.
