Abstract

The ASTM standards for computerized systems are a readily available source of information about laboratory computerization. Generic Guide E 622 introduces a family of standards that describe a six-phase approach to acquiring or developing any type of computerized system. This approach can be used for systems that are developed from scratch, purchased as commercially available products, evolved through several generations of implementation, or developed from rapid prototypes.
