New Test Method for Field Testing of Active Vehicle Barrier System Controls

1. Scope

Methods of field testing of Active Vehicle Barrier System controls for acceptance of installed AVBS.

Keywords

Barrier; Vehicular Access Control; Vehicle Entry Control; Entry Control System; Logic Controller; PLC; Control System; Entry Control Point; Perimeter Barrier; Roadway Barrier; Perimeter Security; Access Control; PACS

Rationale

There are no known consensus standards for field acceptance testing of control systems used to operate Active Vehicle Barrier Systems, to ensure that AVBS controls operate correctly and reliably after installation, renovation, revision, maintenance or major repairs. Consequently, acceptance testing prior to placing systems in service is often haphazard or incomplete. This standard is intended to establish a consistent process to verify acceptability of the controls associated with Active Vehicle Barrier Systems.

The title and scope are in draft form and are under development within this ASTM Committee.
