This test method covers the measurement by weight of the adhesion of dry porcelain enamel powder to a steel work piece. Adherent powder is required for resistance to mechanical shocks during transport of the work part from the spray booth to the furnace.

Rationale

Adherent electrostatically-applied powder porcelain is required for resistance to mechanical shocks during transport of the work part from the spray booth to the furnace to avoid bare spots in the fired coating. This test method covers the measurement by weight of the adhesion of dry porcelain enamel powder to a steel work piece to predict if a powder will remain adherent after application through to firing of the coating.
