Revision of D2622-21 Standard Test Method for Sulfur in Petroleum Products by Wavelength Dispersive X-ray Fluorescence Spectrometry
Rationale
Subcommittee D02.03 received a comment that the precision statement listed in the method, D2622-21 does not match the cited precision listed in the research report, D02-1622. At D02.03’s December 2023 meeting, the subcommittee discussed two options for correcting this mismatch: 1) correcting the error in the research report or 2) updating the method with a note identifying the cause of the mismatch. The subcommittee learned that research reports are not updated, therefore the addition of a note was determined the appropriate pathway to explain the mismatch. This ballot attempts to provide an explanation to the method user for the mismatch between the precision statements when someone reviews the precision statement in both documents.
