Revision of D3462/D3462M-23 Standard Specification for Asphalt Shingles Made from Glass Felt and Surfaced with Mineral Granules

Rationale

Rationale: Re-cycled materials have been used in the manufacture of asphalt shingles for well over 100 years. Recycled pre-consumer and post-consumer materials are currently components of asphalt shingles available in the marketplace. This addition recognizes the importance of conserving material resources, sustainability, and circularity. It stipulates a requirement that the composite material construction conform to the requirements of the current standard which has been in use for decades. This addition does not address and is not intended to address the specific type, formulation, quantity, or physical requirements of the materials.
