Revision of C140/C140M-23a Standard Test Methods for Sampling and Testing Concrete Masonry Units and Related Units
Rationale
In a recent ballot Table 1 – Required Accuracy for Recording and Reporting Specimen Weights was added to C140. Subsequently pointed out that there may be confusion when measuring the immersed weight of a specimen because they are often less than half of the received weights and could require the use of a more accurate scale.
This ballot item proposes to add a new mandatory Note B to Table to clean up this glitch and to make it clear that all of the weights for a given specimen (including the immersed, saturated and oven dry), should be measured with the same accuracy as required for the received or initial weight.
