Revision of F747-23 Standard Terminology Relating to Amusement Rides and Devices
Rationale
This ballot is to add an Appendix to F747 to house a terminology flowchart. This two-page flowchart has been developed over the past three years with the assistance of the Terminology Task Group to serve as a guide and assist F24 Subcommittees and Members in determining whether a term should be defined or not. The scope of this flowchart is to provide guidance regarding if a term should be or should not be defined in a standard and whether it should be specific to a standard; the scope does not cover topics such as how the definition should be worded, etc.
This flowchart guide was developed based on Part E of ASTM’s Form & Style for ASTM Standards as published on the ASTM site. The decision points include information pulled directly from this section of Form & Style. The intent is for this to serve as a tool to assist subcommittee members in adhering to the requirements set forth in that document.
This flowchart has been balloted twice before. The Subcommittee and Task Group is greatly appreciative of the time taken by readers of these ballots to read and provide feedback. The Task Group has reviewed all comments provided and incorporated the feedback into this revision.
