Revision of F2129-19a Standard Test Method for Conducting Cyclic Potentiodynamic Polarization Measurements to Determine the Corrosion Susceptibility of Small Implant Devices

Rationale

A recent publication found that larger surface area has been shown to correlate with reduced breakdown potential for nitinol (Sena, G.M., Sivan, S., Weaver, J.D. et al. Larger surface area can reduce nitinol corrosion resistance. npjMater Degrad 4, 23 (2020). https://doi.org/10.1038/s41529-020-00128-3). Thus, we propose to revise Section 9 to recommend larger specimens be tested, when feasible.
