This standard is being balloted for withdrawal with no replacement becausePersuasive negative from last ballot. The only technology utilized in the test method is no longer used. The manufacturer recommended withdrawing. Members of the committee who work for the manufacturer support the withdrawal of the method. Ballot History: Last Ballot D02.03(23-10) for revision of D7212-13(2018) terminology received a Negative from Michael Pohl. Michael Pohl’s comment, “The only manufacturer of this technology who wrote the original method have said that it should be withdrawn because no one is using this technology any longer!” Negative was found persuasive. Two affirmatives with comments were received as well. One, related to importance of Sulfur analysis by Dr. Kalyan Chakraborty. The other affirmative which supports the rationale to withdraw the method, from Matthew Kreiner, “Thanks for balloting I would support withdrawing this method if the ballot to revise it becomes difficult. Christelle Petiot and I are both members of this subcommittee who worked for the division of Oxford Instruments that became part of Hitachi High-Tech. She and I agree that withdrawal is acceptable. Of course, if the ballot passes, we do not need to make that decision.”
