Revision of F1193-23 Standard Practice for Quality, Manufacture, and Construction of Amusement Rides and Devices

Rationale

It has been brought to the F1193 Task Group’s (TG) attention that subcontractors and/or suppliers may not be aware of F1193 requirements when providing associated parts or components. F1193 does not identify information regarding the use of subcontractors and suppliers for amusement rides and devices other than the reference of the component supplier in section #3 “Significance and Use”.

3. Significance and Use
3.1 The purpose of this practice is to provide the minimum manufacturing requirements for amusement rides and devices and to provide the minimum requirements for a written quality assurance program for an amusement ride or device manufacturer, or component supplier. This is not intended to include suppliers of off-the-shelf components (for example, fasteners, electrical wire).

Upon review the TG is submitting this ballot so that manufacturer(s) shall make available F1193 information to applicable subcontractors and suppliers so parts and components will meet F1193 requirements (when applicable). Several other nationally recognized standards including ISO 9001, EN 13814, EN1090, etc. address subcontractor and suppliers information. In addition, manufacturers shall also obtain the related quality assurance documents from subcontractors and suppliers in accordance with F1193 practice. This ballot only requires a manufacturer to make available applicable F1193 requirements to associated subcontractors and suppliers when related to F1193.
