Revision of C1670/C1670M-23 Standard Specification for Adhered Manufactured Stone Masonry Veneer Units

Rationale

This ballot proposes to address two issues currently with ASTM C1670/C1670M
1. The standard currently refers to ASTM C31 for making specimens for compressive strength and freeze-thaw testing. It also implies that the curing procedures in C31 are to be used, but is not explicit. Further, C31 contains a few curing options, so C1670/C1670 should be explicit about which to use. This ballot proposes these specific requirements.
2. C31 also requires that slump (or slump flow), temperature, and air content be measured for concrete mixes for acceptance testing. Slump/slump flow and temperature are important to know for MSV mixes, but air content is not since the mix is separately tested for freeze-thaw durability. This ballot proposes making it explicit that slump/slump flow are tested, but air content is optional.
