1. Scope
This specification covers SAP Based Launchers which propel a SAP projectile by means of energy released by battery, compressed gas, compressed CO2, mechanical springs, or a combination thereof, used in the sport commonly called Gel Ball, GelWars, or SAP Sport Games
and is to be used in conjunction with other related standards in development

Rationale
The SAP Based Launcher sports activity has grown exponetially over the last 5 years growing from a nearly unknown activity to being one of the fastest growing action sports activities today. This activity is similar to airsoft sports and therefore the F08.27 subcommittee has been following the growth in this new market. This year several manufactures and other interested groups have approached the F08.27 subcommittee with the request to assist them in the development of ASTM standards for this sport. The subcommittee has agreed to assist this industry to begin development of their own standards with the expectation once they have developed their initial standards the group will break off it not their own subcommittee.
The title and scope are in draft form and are under development within this ASTM Committee.
