New Practice for Standard Practice for Copper Press-Connect Joints

1. Scope

This industry standard practice describes the procedure for making permanent press-connect joints by compressing an elastomeric sealing element between copper and copper alloy tube and fittings.

Consensus standard for copper press fitting installation. There is an existing standard (ASTM B828) for solder joining. Press is now commercially used as an alternative joining method in major plumbing and mechanical codes. This standard can be referenced within those codes for proper installation.
