Revision of E3302-22 Standard Guide for PFAS Analytical Methods Selection
Rationale
Guide revisions planned for 2023 include: (a) reference the third Draft Method 1633 (Dec. 2022, EPA 821-D-22-003); (b) reference the fourth Draft Method 1633 (expected in late-2023); (c) discuss the draft EPA Method 1621 (April 2022, EPA 821-D-22-002); (d) expand discussion of non-targeted analysis in section 6.4 with updated references; (e) create a new summary table of method instructions to address common matrix interferences (such as high levels of total dissolved solids) added as an Appendix to section 5.6.6; (f) update section 5.10.3 to add a reference to the NJDEP Regulatory Data Report Format for PFAS in Water (April 2019) which includes extended data format report requirements for PFAS by LC/MS/MS; and (g) reorganize Table 2 - PFAS Target Analyte List Comparison for Published PFAS Analytical Methods to group compounds by physical properties (as in draft 1633) and group analytical methods by sample matrix type.
