Review MTDI Lexicon of 200 terms from FMC's Maritime Transportation Data Initiative (MTDI) Recommendations and Views Report Appendix 1.7 and restate the definitions following ASTM Style Guide form.
Reconcile variances with selected WTO aligned SDO terminology systems so supply chain stakeholders can better understand and communicate with each other, enabling actionable information, avoiding problems, enhancing visibility, and improving efficiency.

In order to make this a manageable task, it is proposed to:
(1) identify a subset of qualifying glossaries to cross-reference and link the 200 terms listed on FMC’s MTDI Lexicon, and
(2) focus first on terms that are relevant for 'container availability'.
Qualifying glossaries for comparison will be selected from relevant private sector and intergovernmental standards developing organizations that comply with the WTO’s six principles for international standards development.
The goal is to develop a data-driven, tech-enabled, user-friendly, visually-stimulating, pattern-revealing learning language model from the sourced glossaries to identify ‘data language barriers,’ and enable evergreen interoperability of terminology.
The terminology standards will be expanded with new work items to cover additional terms that are relevant to other F49 standards work.
The title and scope are in draft form and are under development within this ASTM Committee.
