ASTM WK86733

Revision of C926-23 Standard Specification for Application of Portland Cement-Based Plaster

Rationale

This ballot both revises and relocated the existing language in A2.2.1 as follows:

1. Revision: The current language uses the term “drainage points”. However, drainage does not occur at a point or even a series of points; rather, drainage is two-dimensional and occurs at surfaces. The proposed language deleted the one-dimensional points to the correct two-dimensional surfaces term.
2. Relocation: The existing text is currently in the A2, titled “Design Considerations”. Being that drainage at the bottom of exterior walls is a requirement (and not a consideration) in ASTM C1063 and the building code, this section should be moved out of “A2 Design Considerations” and into the “A1 General Information” of the Annex to avoid a conflict and any question over whether this is a consideration or building code requirement.
