Revision of E2756-19 Standard Terminology Relating to Antimicrobial and Antiviral Agents
Rationale
Subcommittee E35.15 continues to develop new standards at a healthy pace. ASTM Form & Style (September 2022) provides somewhat telegraphic guidance on how to prepare definitions and definitions of terms specific to the standard. The proposed new Appendices provide detailed guidance on best practices for determining whether to define a term in a given standard’s terminology section, and how to define terms. It also provides recommendations for ensuring that definitions remain harmonized among all standards under E35.15’s direct responsibility. The proposed Appendices are adapted from those developed by ASTM Subcommittee D02.95 on Terminology for inclusion in Terminology D4175..
