This specification covers the manufacturing requirements for precast reinforced concrete monolithic box sections that are intended to be installed using jacking techniques. The typical use of this type of product is for the construction of culverts and for the conveyance of storm water, industrial wastes and sewage.
box culvert; reinforced concrete; jacking; storm water
Trenchless installation of precast concrete box culverts by means of jacking has become a more common practice over the years. There currently is no ASTM standard specification that covers the manufacturing requirements for box culverts sections that will be installed by means of jacking. The development of a new standard specification would supplement the existing manufacturing standards for precast reinforced concrete monolithic box sections that will be installed using jacking techniques. Box culvert manufacturers, jacking contractors, and end-use owners would be the expected users of this new specification.
The title and scope are in draft form and are under development within this ASTM Committee.
