ASTM WK85767

Revision of C926-23 Standard Specification for Application of Portland Cement-Based Plaster

Rationale

The term “will” is defined in ASTM Form and Style Manual page iv as, “Used to express futurity, but never to indicate any degree of requirement.” Throughout ASTM C926, the word “will” is sometimes (and inappropriately) used in mandatory text passages.

This ballot item identifies those situations where “will” should be changed to suit the need of the language. In some instances, the changes are editorial; however, after review with Christoper Stack, ASTM Editor, some are technical in nature and require balloting. For the sake of full disclosure, all proposed changes (editorial and technical) are included in this ballot item.

Only the language in red underline and strike-through is included in this ballot item. Other changes not included in this ballot are not related to this item and will be discussed as items as new business during the task group meeting.
