Revision of F1148-22 Standard Consumer Safety Performance Specification for Home Playground Equipment
Rationale
The CPSC reported customer complaints of after-market hardware being marketed and sold as parts for home playground use, such as swing hooks, clips, and other attachment fixtures. Multiple varieties of these parts have reportedly resulted in breakage and part malfunctions during intended use of the home playground equipment. In response to the failing equipment, the F15.09 committee decided to incorporate all replacement parts and aftermarket parts that are being marketed for the use of home playground equipment to meet the standards of ASTM F1148, to deter and prevent malfunctioning equipment from being used on home playground equipment that is likely to cause harm or injury to the children using the equipment.
