This guide provides procedures and calculation algorithms to evaluate bias or bias deviations for any test method that has quantitative continuous numerical and monotonic test results. There are however other bias evaluation approaches that may be used for this purpose.
bias deviation; ascending order trend plot; fundamental reference value; operational reference value
While much progress has been made in reducing within laboratory variation, many studies over the years have shown that a major contributor to between laboratory variation is bias. This guide is intended to be used to begin a discussion of the evaluation of bias in rubber and carbon black test methods for the eventual purpose of reducing between laboratory variation.
The title and scope are in draft form and are under development within this ASTM Committee.
