New Practice for controlling Computed Tomographic (CT) dimensional measurement performance by using Representative Quality Indicators (RQIs)

Develop a standard practice to cover the dimensional examination by X-ray computed tomography (CT) of unique materials or processes, or both, for which conventionally designed image quality indicators (IQIs) may be inadequate in controlling the quality and repeatability of the CT image

Rationale
Users of X-ray computed tomography systems need a standard practice that will enable them to understand and control the quality of dimensional measurements performed on their samples. Given that the quality of X-ray computed tomography measurements is strongly dependent on the size, shape, and material composition of the measured sample, and on the acquisition parameters, conventional image quality indicators (IQIs) are not adequate.
The title and scope are in draft form and are under development within this ASTM Committee.
