New Test Method for Test method for Lateral water migration resistance of blindside waterproofing

1. Scope

This test method measures the lateral water migration resistance of a blindside waterproofing membrane under controlled laboratory conditions. This test method is based on a poured concrete/membrane composite that is intended to confine pressurized water in the sample fixture.

Rationale

This test method is intended to test the resistance of a membrane and concrete slab laminate to fail laterally at the interface between them and can be used to compare the lateral failure performance of blind side waterproofing membranes.
There is currently not a standard test method for lateral water migration resistance for blindside waterproofing membranes; however, most waterproofing manufacturers list this as a key physical property.

The title and scope are in draft form and are under development within this ASTM Committee.
