Revision of D7566-22 Standard Specification for Aviation Turbine Fuel Containing Synthesized Hydrocarbons

Rationale for revision
Clause A2.6.1 currently states that “Each batch of HEFA SPK shall meet the requirements listed in Table A.2.2.” However it also states, “It is the ultimate objective of this committee to transition these batch requirements to a management of change requirement once sufficient production experience is gained. Table A2.2 requirements will then be required only when new production facilities or schemes are established, or when significant changes to existing production operations are implemented, such as the introduction of a new feedstock material.”
Since 2013, 75 million gallons of HEFA have been produced. In consideration of this production experience, a proposal has been made modify the Annex A2 wording in line with the expectation in Clause A2.6.1. A report detailing the Table A.2 2 data for the 230 batches representing the 75 million gallons of HEFA SPK (and demonstrating that every batch met the requirements) is attached to support the proposed change.
A motion to ballot was approved during the June 2022 ASTM Subcommittee J06 meeting in Seattle to revise Clause A2.6.1.
