Revision of F2291-22a Standard Practice for Design of Amusement Rides and Devices

Rationale

This is a resubmittal that makes adjustments to the original ballot based on the comments received. The major change is the addition of a definition for “acceleration event” in the terminology section.
There has been confusion through the years about the language and plot (Fig. 18) in Section 7.1 concerning acceleration reversals. It was determined in the ASTM F24.24 Acceleration Task Group Meeting October 2020 to rewrite this portion of the standard. The intent of this revision is to clarify both the language and figure. It does not change the reversal limits or the methodology of the analysis. The new language defines sustained acceleration event, clarifies that the reversal limits are based on the limits of Figs. 6-7, and clarifies that the reversal limits apply to the same axis of acceleration as the events.
