New Specification for Standard Tire for use on Side Force Pavement Skid-Resistance Tests1

1. Scope

1.1 This specification covers the general requirements for the standard tire for standard 20 degree toe in side force pavement skid-resistance testing. The tire covered by this specification is for use in evaluation of tire-pavement friction. The tire is utilized on a sideway-force coefficient routine investigation machine using continuous friction measuring equipment (CFME) / continuous pavement friction measurement (CPFM) such as the iSAVe, SCRIM and SKM integrated vehicles.
1.2 The terminology in this specification is consistent with Terminology E867.
1.3 The values stated in inch-pound units are to be regarded as standard. The values given in parentheses are mathematical conversions to SI units that are provided for information only and are not considered standard.
1.4 This international standard was developed in accordance with internationally recognized principles on standardization established in the Decision on Principles for the Development of International Standards, Guides and Recommendations issued by the World Trade Organization Technical Barriers to Trade (TBT) Committee.
