This test method covers the determination of the temperature at which an arbitrary deformation occurs when specimens are subjected to an arbitrary set of testing conditions.
deflection temperature; flexural load; flexure
Develop a new standard for Dry Bath HDT testing, as prior testing has shown there is a bias between results obtained by traditional Oil Bath HDT instruments and the Dry Bath instruments. The Dry Bath instruments have the ability to safely test to much higher temperatures than their oil bath counterparts, which is necessary for today high performance materials.
The title and scope are in draft form and are under development within this ASTM Committee.
