Quantitative analysis of ultrashort-chain PFAS by two complementary retention mechanisms for confirmation on separation by liquid chromatography tandem mass spectrometry
short-chain PFAS; ultrashort-chain PFAS; PFAS
With recently found ultrashort-chain PFAS (C1 - C4) in the environment especially with rainfall and snowfall, reversed phase LC separation may not have proper retention or provide good peak shapes for these early eluting PFAS analytes. Having only one MRM transition can be a challenge in confirmation of those analytes due to uncertainty coming from background interferences. Adopting existing LC-MS/MS technology with two complementary chromatography for confirmation of these analytes are necessary.
The title and scope are in draft form and are under development within this ASTM Committee.
