ASTM International Honors Robert Monticello with Chip Collins Memorial Award
Monticello was honored in recognition of his exemplary leadership of subcommittee E35.15 on antimicrobial agents.

ASTM International's pesticides, antimicrobials, and alternative control agents committee (E35) has presented its Chip Collins Memorial Award to Robert A. Monticello, chairman of standards committees for the International Antimicrobial Council.
Monticello was honored in recognition of his exemplary leadership of subcommittee E35.15 on antimicrobial agents, and for his development of robust and scientifically defensible standards to evaluate the efficacy of antimicrobial treated articles.
An ASTM International member since 2008, Monticello has also been honored by the subcommittee with the Award of Appreciation.
Monticello’s career focus is antimicrobial agents and he represents the textile industry, holding memberships and leadership positions in such other organizations as ISO, the American Association of Textile Chemists and Colorists (AATCC), International Antimicrobial Council (IAC), and International Biodeterioration Research Group (IBRG). He’s worked to develop a number of brands including Aegis, Silvadur, Intellifresh, Sanitized, and ProTecht.
Monticello earned his bachelor of science in microbiology from Michigan State University (1987), his master of science in molecular genetics from Western Michigan University (1989), and his doctoral degree in biochemistry and molecular medicine from Wayne State University of Medicine (1995).
