This course covers the ASTM Environmental Site Assessment Standard Practices for the Phase I Site Assessment (E1527) and the Phase II Environmental Site Assessment (E1903). You will gain an understanding of what is required by the standards, how to use the standards, and how the standards affect the way you do business.
The instructor will also discuss the "Landowner Liability Protections" under the Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation and Liability Act (CERCLA), and why due diligence is necessary.
The last day of the course focuses on how to properly plan and perform Phase II investigations using ASTM E1903 Standard Guide for Phase II Environmental Site Assessments. The course shows how the Standard relies on the scientific method and the conceptual site model, and allows environmental assessors to generate reliable, defensible, reproducible information regarding the nature of potential contaminants associated with RECs identified during the Phase I Processes and how this information can assist in making informed business decisions concerning commercial real estate transactions.
By the end of this course you will be able to:
This course also includes access to two free ASTM course:
This course is taught by experienced professionals who are members of ASTM Committee E50.02 on Environmental Assessments and are actively involved in developing and updating the ASTM environmental assessment standards.
ASTM standards have grown to be among the world's most widely used and accepted documents. Recognizing the need for authoritative site assessment standards, ASTM pulled together environmental professionals, real estate and insurance professionals, lawyers, and government representatives. These members of ASTM Committee E50 and its Subcommittee E50.02 on Commercial Real Estate Transactions developed the standard upon which this course is based. For more information on Committee E50 contact Molly Lynak or go to our E50 technical committee page.
If your state has a continuing education requirement for license renewal, ASTM training courses and ASTM membership can help you meet that requirement.
