Min Liao Honored by ASTM with Award of Merit
Liao was recognized for his exceptional and sustained technical contributions to E08 and other committees, as well as the development and application of fracture mechanics test methods.

ASTM International presented its top annual award – the Award of Merit – to Min Liao for his contributions to its fatigue and fracture committee (E08).
The prestigious award, which includes the accompanying title of fellow, is ASTM’s highest recognition for distinguished service and outstanding participation in ASTM International committee activities. Liao was recognized for his exceptional and sustained technical contributions to E08 and other committees, as well as the development and application of fracture mechanics test methods.
An ASTM International member since 2006, Liao has also been honored by the committee with the Award of Appreciation (2017).
Liao joined the National Research Council of Canada (NRC) in 1999, he currently works as principal research officer and team leader of structural integrity at NRC. His work has focused mainly on performing and managing numerous projects in support of the structural integrity and airworthiness management for the Royal Canadian Air Force (RCAF) air fleets. His research, meanwhile, has addressed aircraft structural integrity programs, durability and damage tolerance analysis (DaDTA), and structural risk assessment.
Liao received his Ph.D. in Aerospace Engineering from Northwestern Polytechnical University, China in 1993.
