ASTM International presented its top annual award – the Award of Merit – to Steve DelloRusso for his contributions to its concrete pipe committee (C13).
The prestigious award, which includes the accompanying title of fellow, is ASTM’s highest recognition for distinguished service and outstanding participation in ASTM International committee activities. DelloRusso was honored for his level demeanor, technical expertise, and passionate advocacy for ASTM and its process.
“I am humbled to be named an ASTM Fellow and grateful to join colleagues who share a similar passion for advancing our industry standards,” said DelloRusso. “ASTM has provided me with the opportunity to collaborate with experts from across the industry, broaden my knowledge, and contribute to standards that improve the safety and performance of our built environment.”
An ASTM International member since 2011, DelloRusso has been previously honored by the committee with the Merlin G. ‘IB’ Spangler Award (2016). In addition to ASTM, he is a member of the International Society of Explosives Engineers (ISEE) and the New England Society of Explosives Engineers (NESEE).
DelloRusso’s career focus is structural consulting, with a heavy concentration in buried piping and structures. He has been with Simpson Gumpertz & Heger Inc. since 1984 and currently holds the position of senior technical manager. He earned his bachelor of science in mechanical engineering (1982) from the University of Massachusetts - Lowell.
