ASTM International presented its 2025 James A. Thomas President’s Leadership Award to Josh Coughlin for his contributions to ASTM’s copper and copper alloys committee (B05).
The President’s Leadership Award recognizes individuals early in their ASTM International career who have significantly advanced ASTM’s mission through extraordinary accomplishment, example, and vision. The award is given in honor of James A. Thomas, who served as ASTM International president from 1992 to 2017.
Coughlin was recognized for his prodigious and enthusiastic service as a new member of ASTM committee B05 on copper and copper alloys. In under three years of membership, he has taken on leading roles within three B05 subcommittees and serves as liaison between several committees. As stated by the committee, Josh has used these roles to support several revisions and development projects within B05, and taken together, his accomplishments represent his trustworthiness and technical ability.
Coughlin works as a laboratory manager at Revere Copper Products, a firm that was founded by Paul Revere in 1801. His work represents a drive to provide high quality materials for the electrical and electronic needs of this century, with ASTM standardization as a key element.
