ASTM International presented its top annual award – the 2024 Award of Merit – to Edward Freyermuth for his contributions to ASTM’s manufactured masonry units committee (C15). 



The prestigious award, which includes the accompanying title of fellow, is ASTM’s highest recognition for distinguished service and outstanding participation in ASTM International committee activities. Freyermuth was recognized for his extensive contributions as chair of the committee task group on unit specifications, and for his invaluable work as a liaison between ASTM and the prolific southwestern United States masonry industry.

An ASTM International member since 2000, Freyermuth had been previously honored by the committee with two Awards of Appreciation (2008, 2022).

Freyermuth, with Technical Consulting Services LLC, works as a consultant for the Arizona Masonry Council as well as other masonry industry companies. His career focus is specialty masonry products and technical services, and in addition to ASTM he is a member of The Masonry Society, the Concrete Masonry and Hardscapes Association, and the International Code Council.
