ASTM International Committee D13 on Textiles will celebrate its 100th anniversary with a reception and dinner on Jan. 27, 2014, from 6:00.to 9:00 p.m. The celebration will take place at the Hyatt Regency in Houston, Texas, where D13 will be meeting from Jan. 27-29 during the ASTM January Committee Week.
The anniversary event will include entertainment, an awards ceremony, a cocktail reception and dinner. Preregistration and advanced ticket purchase is required. Tickets are $55 per person. For registration, visit www.astm.org/MEETINGS/nextmeeting.cgi?+++D13.
Established in 1914, ASTM Committee D13 develops standards that relate to the characteristics, properties, nomenclature and uses of textiles. D13 has developed and maintains more than 300 standards. Nearly 600 members of D13 work on 29 different subcommittees. Standards developed by the committee are used to ensure safety and quality from manufacture through consumers throughout the textile industry. Among the key documents of D13 are:
• ASTM D1683, Test Method for Failure in Sewn Seams of Woven Apparel Fabrics;
• ASTM D5034, Test Method for Breaking Strength and Elongation of Textile Fabrics;
• ASTM D5585, Table of Body Measurements for Adult Female Misses Figure Types;
• ASTM D4910, Tables of Body Measurements for Children, Infant Sizes—Preemie to 24 Months; and
• ASTM D6193, Practice for Stitches and Seams.
