The ASCET Center of Excellence has launched the first iteration of its Information and Data Sharing Hub, a new national resource designed to support U.S. leadership in critical and emerging technology (CET) standardization.
The Information and Data Sharing Hub serves as an actionable resource for stakeholders involved in CET standardization, including industry, standards development organizations, policymakers, researchers, and small and medium-sized enterprises. Initial resources available through the hub include conformity assessment information, technology and standards roadmaps, and curated repositories of relevant standards and reference materials. According to Mohsen Seifi, ASTM vice president and principal investigator for ASCET, the project will strengthen coordination within the development and use of international standards for CETs.
“The ASCET Information and Data Sharing Hub provides a centralized, continuously updated platform for information related to the standardization of CETs, enabling stakeholders to more effectively navigate standards landscapes, identify gaps, and engage at the right time and place in the standards development process,” says Seifi “The hub represents a foundational capability in ASCET’s broader mission to accelerate industry-driven, international standards that support innovation, market access, and competitiveness.”
The hub currently focuses on four priority CET areas—artificial intelligence, biotechnology, quantum technology, and semiconductors and microelectronics—reflecting technologies that are central to U.S. economic competitiveness, national security, and global market leadership. The platform is designed to evolve over time as additional CETs emerge and stakeholder needs expand.
"ASCET's Information and Data Sharing Hub is designed to bring clarity, coordination, and momentum to the standardization of critical and emerging technologies,” says James Dickerson, director of ASCET. “By providing a trusted, centralized resource, the hub helps stakeholders make informed decisions, engage earlier and more effectively in standards development, and ultimately accelerate the path from innovation to global markets."
ASCET (Advancing Standards for Critical and Emerging Technologies) was established by ASTM International through a cooperative agreement awarded to ASTM by U.S. Department of Commerce’s National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) to strengthen U.S. engagement and leadership in international CET standardization. Since its launch, ASCET has convened the CET community through activities including its first workshop in May 2025 and its inaugural Advisory Board meeting in December 2025.
The launch of the Information and Data Sharing Hub advances one of ASCET’s four founding objectives, alongside fostering pre-standardization engagement, building workforce capacity in standards, and developing collaborative CET pilot programs with NIST. Together, these efforts form an integrated system—connecting information, people, and action to strengthen U.S. influence in international standardization.
ASCET will continue to expand the hub’s content and capabilities in future iterations and invites stakeholders across the CET ecosystem to engage with the platform, contribute resources, and provide feedback to inform its ongoing development.
