ASTM International presented its top annual award – the Award of Merit – to Scott Keenan for his contributions to its aromatic, industrial, specialty and related chemicals committee (D16).
The prestigious award, which includes the accompanying title of fellow, is ASTM’s highest recognition for distinguished service and outstanding participation in ASTM International committee activities. Keenan was honored for his contributions over 27 years at ASTM, his work merging committee E15 with D16, and his outstanding leadership while D16 chair.
An ASTM International member since 1997, Keenan has been previously honored by the committee with the Outgoing Chair Award (2016) and the Award of Appreciation (2016). In addition to ASTM, he is a member of the American Chemical Society (ACS).
Keenan is retired as of 2019, but his career focus has been troubleshooting in petrochemical manufacturing and improvement. Prior to retirement, he was senior R&D manager at AdvanSix. He earned his Ph.D. in organometallic chemistry from University of Oregon (1986).
