ASTM International Committee B08 on Metallic and Inorganic Coatings has presented its Frederick A. Lowenheim Memorial Award to Phillip Stapleton, president of Stapleton Technologies Inc. in Long Beach, California.
An active ASTM member since 1980, Stapleton has served as secretary, vice chairman and chairman of B08 and currently leads Subcommittee B08.01 on Ancillary Activities. He was named an ASTM fellow in 1993, when he received the highest recognition for contributions to standards activities, the Award of Merit. Stapleton also works on the Nanotechnology, Aerospace and Aircraft, Corrosion of Metals and Wear and Erosion committees.
Stapleton attended California State, Northridge, and began working as a sales engineer for the Stapleton Co. in Glendale, California in 1966. He assumed the president role in 1990. Stapleton Technologies manufactures specialty autocatalytic processes that are used by semiconductor, electronic, microelectronics, industrial and military organizations around the world.
Outside ASTM, Stapleton is a member of the Electrochemical Society.
