Peter M. Woyciesjes, Ph.D., has been named to the ASTM International Board of Directors for a three-year term. An ASTM fellow and Award of Merit recipient as well as chair of Committee D15 on Engine Coolants, Woyciesjes is the worldwide research and development manager, coolants, for Honeywell in Danbury, Conn.

Woyciesjes resides in Woodbury, Conn.

As chair of D15, Woyciesjes leads a 130-member committee that is responsible for some 40 standards that play a pre-eminent role in the engine coolants industry. He also serves as chair of Subcommittee D15.93 on Research and Long Range Planning and participates in the work of several D15 subcommittees, as he has since becoming an ASTM International member in 1992.

Woyciesjes has been active in the development of D15 coolant standards, including recycled coolant performance specifications, and has participated in interlaboratory studies related to the committee's standards work. In addition, he has actively promoted member participation and consensus building in the standards process. For his part in D15 activities, Woyciesjes received the D15 Raymond H. Rudisill Award in 1999 and the D15 Daniel H. Green Award in 2000.

Professionally, Woyciesjes has had management and supervisory responsibility for multiple research and development programs, as well as actively participating in research and development, plant support and technical assistance. Holder of a number of U.S. and foreign patents, Woyciesjes has translated these laboratory successes into larger scale operations. In the last several years, he has worked on applying his extensive Six-Sigma experience – master black belt Six-Sigma leader and mentor – to both technical and non-technical areas.

Before joining the staff at Honeywell, Woyciesjes gained other industry experience from positions at Allied-Signal Corp., Prestone Products Corp., First Brands Corp. and Union Carbide Corp. In addition to ASTM International, Woyciesjes is a member of the American Chemical Society; the American Society for Quality, Technology and Maintenance Council; the Society of Automotive Engineers; and the British Technical Council of the Motor and Petroleum Industries.

Woyciesjes holds an associate degree in business from Westchester Community College, Westchester, N.Y.; a B.S. in chemistry from the State University of New York, Plattsburgh; and a Ph.D. in inorganic chemistry from the University of Illinois, Champaign-Urbana.
