Papers are invited for ASTM International’s Symposium on Application of Automation Technology and Advanced Analysis Techniques in Fatigue and Fracture Testing, to be held May 8, 2024, in Philadelphia, PA. The event is sponsored by ASTM International’s fatigue and fracture committee (E08) and will be held in conjunction with the committee’s standards development meetings.

The goal of this symposium is to provide an international forum for technical knowledge exchange emphasizing ongoing work and recent development in the following traditional automation-related technical areas:

• Novel approaches for improved control and measurement in materials testing systems,
• Monitoring, generating and/or controlling fixed and variable amplitude (spectrum) force and/or displacement,
• More efficient and/or cost-effective methods of generating characterization data,
• Implemented algorithms to formalize determination of key features in test records,
• Analysis, simulation, and modeling of fatigue crack nucleation or growth of components (and factoring this into testing), and,
• Laboratory automation as well as information management systems.

To participate in the symposium, authors must submit a 2 to 3-page abstract using the ASTM Extended Abstracts template found in the online Abstract Submission Portal no later than Oct. 13, 2023.
