Molly Lynyak, manager of technical committee operations at ASTM International, has been appointed to an initial three-year term on the board of directors of the International Consumer Product Health and Safety Organization (ICPHSO).

ICPHSO is a global, non-profit, volunteer-run membership organization supporting health and safety professionals around the world. They provide an international, neutral forum for product safety stakeholders to learn, network, and share information to advance safer consumer products. Its board of directors determines basic policies, sets goals and objectives, elects officers, and approves the budget in accordance with the bylaws of the organization.

ASTM standards play an integral role in setting safety requirements for consumer products, sporting a longstanding consumer program, an online consumer hub, and various other resources.

In her role at ASTM, Lynyak is responsible for standards development activities within its consumer products committee (F15) and its environmental assessment, risk management and corrective action committee (E50). By bringing together industry and manufacturers, consumers, testing labs, and regulators, Lynyak manages the technical committee that addresses hazards for a range of consumer product areas including toys, juvenile products, playgrounds, and furniture safety.

Lynyak also supports the important role that E50’s standards play in environmental site assessments, due diligence practices, real estate transactions, and greener cleanups.

Prior to her work at ASTM, Lynyak worked as an advocate and leader in the New York City criminal justice system for underprivileged, court-involved youth. She also worked in Philadelphia coordinating child abuse investigations amongst law enforcement, child services, and medical partners.

Lynyak begins her term on Mar. 16, 2025.
