Maya Rose Honored by ASTM with Kahn Memorial Award

Rose was recognized for her record in the field of metallurgical engineering and related aspects of materials testing.

ASTM’s nondestructive testing committee (E07) has given its Noah A. Kahn Memorial Award to Maya Rose, part of the most recent graduating class of Lehigh University.

The Kahn Memorial Award was Established in 1963 by the Committee to honor the memory of Noah A. Kahn who was an outstanding member of the Committee and head metallurgist of the material laboratory, New York Naval Shipyard, for many years. Rose was recognized for her record in the field of metallurgical engineering and related aspects of materials testing.

An ASTM International member since 2021, Rose is also a member of ASM International.

In 2024, Rose interned at Carpenter Technology Corporation as a strategic metallurgy intern. She received her bachelor of science in materials science & engineering in 2025. In the fall, she will attend Johns Hopkins University to pursue her doctoral degree in materials science and engineering.
