ASTM International presented its top annual award – the Award of Merit – to Edward Ginzel for his contributions to its nondestructive testing committee (E07).
The prestigious award, which includes the accompanying title of fellow, is ASTM’s highest recognition for distinguished service and outstanding participation in ASTM International committee activities. Ginzel was recognized for his patience, natural ability to teach and share knowledge, and his technical leadership that has driven the publication of 30 different standards.
An ASTM International member since 1996, Ginzel has been previously honored by the committee with the Charles W. Briggs Award. In addition to ASTM, he was a member of the Canadian, British, and American Societies of Nondestructive Testing (NDT).
Ginzel’s career concentration is ultrasonic testing. He is retired as of 2015 and teaches as an adjunct professor at the University of Waterloo, after a 41-year career as an NDT technician and consultant. He earned his bachelor of science degrees in earth science and physics from the university in 1974 & 1996.
