Kutska was recognized for advancing public health and playground safety through his international advocacy, training, and leadership in standards.

ASTM’s consumer products committee (F15) has presented the organization’s top annual award – the Award of Merit – to Ken Kutska, executive director of the International Playground Safety Institute, LLC.

The prestigious award, which includes the accompanying title of fellow, is ASTM’s highest recognition for distinguished service and outstanding participation in ASTM International committee activities. Kutska was recognized for advancing public health and playground safety through his international advocacy, training, and leadership in standards.

An ASTM International member since 1989, Kutska also received the Certificate of Appreciation from the committee in 2022. In addition to ASTM, he is a member of the Midwest Institute of Park Executives (MIPE), the National Recreation and Park Association (NRPA), the American Academy of Park and Recreation Professionals (AAPRA), and previously of the Illinois Park and Recreation Association (IPRA),

Kutska earned his bachelor’s degree in parks and recreation administration from Western Illinois University in 1971.
