Sergio Vazquez Jimenez, secretary general of the European Organisation for Technical Assessment (EOTA), has started his three-year term on the ASTM International board of directors.
ASTM International’s board is made of 25 leaders from a variety of companies, associations, universities, government bodies, and other organizations around the world.
EOTA, headquartered in Brussels, is a non-profit association that brings together Europe’s Technical Assessment Bodies (TABs) to develop European Assessment Documents (EADs) and issue European Technical Assessments (ETAs), enabling CE marking for innovative and non-standard construction products.
Vazquez Jimenez is a supporter of ASTM standards and has looked to utilize ASTM content in the EOTA documents that enable innovative construction products to enter the European market. Several EADs include several references to ASTM standards and test methods, and ASTM and EOTA have been exploring ways to formalize the cooperation.
Vazquez Jimenez received a degree in technical architecture, as well as a master ‘s of business administration degree, from the University of Seville. He also received a master’s degree in occupational risks prevention from the University of Camilo Jose Cela.
