A new report issued by ASTM’s sustainability committee (E60) highlights a recent workshop on decarbonization, organized in collaboration with the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST).
The report summarizes findings from E60’s recent event, “Workshop on Decarbonization: A Gap Analysis of LCA Standards for Industry.” LCA, which stands for “life cycle assessment,” is the process of evaluating the environmental effects that products, services, and more will have throughout their usage.
“The participation of the workshop participants was amazing,” said former ASTM board member Amy Costello. “Through synergistic conversations and discussions, we were able to develop and prioritize a roadmap to address gaps in life cycle assessment standards.”
Standards developers, sustainability experts, and those looking to use LCA to promote sustainability practices in their organizations will find this report valuable. Topics include various aspects of the LCA process, including best practices, limitations, and gaps to be addressed.
